Sunday is a weekly reminder of EASTER. Sunday
is also a weekly reminder of the world's VERY
FIRST DAY when God created
the world. Sunday also prepares us for the LAST DAY at the end
of the world when
Jesus will come in glory and all things will be made new. Sunday is an
invitation to
Easter joy: "This is the day which the Lord has made; let
us rejoice and be glad in it".

In many countries, Sunday used to be a sacred day, a holy day. Yet now,
for many people, Sunday is not a holy day but a holiday (.."holiday" in
fact comes from "holyday"!) The holiday aspect of Sunday is a
good thing when it helps our social development (e.g. through cultural
and sporting activities). But for Christians, Sunday is not just a
holiday, it's first of all a HOLY DAY!
在很多國家, 星期日原本是一個神聖的, 聖潔的日子.
但現在很多人認為
星期日已不再是 "聖日",
而只是一日假期. ("假日"實際源於 "聖日")

countries. In some places, Sunday worship is still given top
priority. But in more and more places, fewer and fewer people go to church on
Sunday. One factor affecting many places is the shortage of

To recover our sense of a Sacred Sunday, we need to remember what
Sunday is all about: Sunday is when Christians should come
together to commemorate Jesus' life and death, his resurrection and
glory. We do this by hearing God's word and by sharing in the
Eucharist.

We keep Sunday "holy" especially by going to Church and by relaxing in a
spirit of Christian joy and
fellowship. So, don't be afraid to
give your time to Jesus. Yes, let's open our time to Jesus so that he
will cast LIGHT on our time and GIVE IT DIRECTION. This is why the
rediscovery of Sunday will release tremendous goodness in our
lives. If we give time to Jesus, all our relationships will become better.
This is not time lost, but time gained!
為保持星期日的 "神聖", 我們尤其藉著上教堂和在基督徒喜樂與友愛
中鬆弛精神. 因此不要害怕把時間交給耶穌.是的, 讓我們把時間開放
給祂;

The 10 Commandments teach us to "keep holy the Sabbath Day".
"Sabbath" means "to rest, to stop
work". On Sunday we rest,
just as God "rested on the 7th day" after creating the universe, and
just as
the Israelites "rested" in the Promised Land after the
Exodus from Egypt - and just as we will someday
"rest" for ever in
the Promised Land of Heaven (...so we pray for the dead: "Eternal Rest
give to them,
O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon
them...).
